Meticulously painted postmortem illustration showing stomach of a poisoning victim.
In this case depicted are results of poisoning with phenol acid - highly toxic and corrosive substance.
Presented artwork comes from famous Institutul de Medicina Legala founded in Bucharest, Romania in 1892 by Dr Mina Minovici.
Dr Minovici was a precursor in this field and his unit in Bucharest was the very first institute of forensic medicine in the world!
Medium: pencil, watercolour, body colour.
Condition: visible damage to paper surface, mainly on uncovered areas - all captured on photos; damage to frame - it requires reframing.
