One watercolour and a sketch by David Cox senior O.W.S. (1783-1859).
Very gentle and subtle subjects. The first sketch captures two peasant girls traveling together. One of the girls is riding a horse and another one is walking accompanied by a dog.
The second sketch is a soft rural landscape with a herder on the horse guiding a small herd of cattle.
Signed and dated in few places: front bottom-right, front bottom-left, on the back, 2nd one has inscriptions inside and signatures and dates underneath the matting.
Dated: 1849 and 1834.
Condition: very good.
